About Croatian FADN / FSDN

The establishment of the FADN system in the Republic of Croatia is mandated by the Agriculture Act (Official Gazette NN 118/18, 42/20, 127/20, 52/21, 152/22, and 152/24). The Ministry responsible for agriculture is in charge of the organization, management, and professional implementation of the system and acts as the Liaison Agency. It conducts FADN surveys on a representative sample of commercial agricultural holdings in Croatia. The system includes holdings that generate income from agricultural activities. Commercial agricultural holdings are defined as those large enough to provide the farmer with a main occupation and a stable income.

The collected individual data are confidential and are published only in aggregated form.

The implementation and development of the system are financed by the European Commission. Oversight of the system is carried out by the National FADN Committee, appointed by the Minister. The Committee is also responsible for adopting the plan for selecting holdings that participate in the survey.

Transition to FSDN in the Republic of Croatia

Croatia has already begun implementing the obligations arising from the transition of the European FADN system to FSDN.

Necessary amendments have been made to the Agriculture Act, and a new Regulation on the Farm Sustainability Data Network has been drafted to ensure full compliance with the new European requirements.

From the 2024 accounting year, the gradual collection of an expanded dataset required for FSDN began, including environmental and social sustainability indicators. At the same time, the Ministry is developing a new application that will significantly facilitate data collection and enable more efficient linking with various data sources, in line with the new EU standards and digitalization principles.
